Piemonte Region Introduces Piemove Card for Student Travel
Starting August 18, 2021, students residing in the regions of Turin, Asti, Biella, Cuneo, Novara, and Vercelli can apply for the Piemove card, a new initiative offering unlimited travel on public transport within these regions.
The Piemove card is designed for students enrolled in universities with a campus located in the participating capital cities. University students with an ISEE indicator up to 85,000 euros are eligible to apply. Students of non-state universities can also participate if they confirm their intention to join the initiative.
For students who are not residents of the Piemonte region, the Piemove card is also available. If a student does not have a BIP Card, they can request it online with a free subscription already loaded. Existing BIP Card holders can load the free travel title onto their card using the "BIP Piemonte" app. Students who have already activated the GTT subscription on their PoliTo university card can also use it for the Piemove card benefits.
Registration for the Piemove card can be done on the bip.piemonte.it platform. While waiting for delivery, students can travel with the receipt of their request (except on the Metro). The free travel title is valid for 12 months, including summer months, and can be sent to the address indicated by the student.
The Piemove card allows free travel on the urban network of the participating cities, as well as the suburban network of Gtt in Turin, including the metro and railway service within city stations up to Grugliasco. The card also extends to free travel on all public transport in the capital cities that have joined the initiative.
For students with a Formula subscription, the Piemove card entitles them to a discount on the cost of the subscription, equal to the quota relating to the urban network. FAQs on the measure can be consulted on the website.
For students of the University of Eastern Piemonte, registration will be possible in September. The Piemove card is available for students under 26 years old.
This initiative aims to provide students with greater mobility and accessibility, making it easier for them to attend classes and participate in extracurricular activities. For more information, visit the official website at bip.piemonte.it.
