The Ethnomusicology Archive Undergoes Renovation, Spring and Summer of 2018
The Ethnomusicology Archive, a treasure trove of musical cultures, is set to undergo a significant transformation. The renovation and expansion project will take place in phases, with the first phase focusing on preparing collections for a new shelving area.
In preparation for this change, the current Archive space will be completely emptied, and the collections will be moved to a new shelving area that is being built. This new space is part of a larger renovation and expansion of the Archive, which is expected to open early in the Fall quarter.
The remodeling will take place over the summer, and the Archive will temporarily close on March 30th. However, before the closure, an announcement for a "farewell to the old Archive" party is soon to be made. This party will provide insights into the renovation project and offer a chance to explore the Archive one last time before the changes.
The party will also feature an interactive tour of the new Archive space, giving attendees a sneak peek of what to expect when the renovated and expanded Archive reopens. The events planned for the party and the inauguration of the new Archive space are yet to be announced in detail.
Once the renovation is completed, the new Archive space will be used for teaching, learning, and exploring musical cultures from around the world. The series of events being planned for the inauguration aim to further this mission, offering opportunities for teaching, learning, and exploring.
For those eagerly anticipating the reopening of the Ethnomusicology Archive, it is recommended to check directly with the institution or organisation responsible for the archive for the latest updates on the inauguration events. As of now, publicly available event listings do not cover this event.
