"Time Travel Experience in the Basement: An Artistic and Merchandising gig - Number 16"

From August 23 to September 7, 2025, the Basement 16 Gallery in Bensberg, Germany, will host an art fair titled "A Journey Through Time." This unique event invites artists to delve into themes related to history, memory, transformation, and the passage of time, encouraging reflections on how time shapes identity, culture, and perception.

Concept and Expectations

The fair aims to create an immersive experience where visitors can engage with diverse interpretations of time as a fluid and multifaceted phenomenon. Artists are expected to present works that provoke thought about temporal change, continuity, and the narrative threads connecting eras. The exhibition fosters dialogue between different art forms and historical perspectives, highlighting both personal and collective journeys through time.

Types of Artworks Exhibited

The exhibition offers a broad spectrum of techniques and styles, including printmaking, photography, watercolor, acrylic, oil painting, object art, installation, 3D printing, encaustic, lenticular image techniques, and more. A rich tapestry of temporal exploration awaits visitors, with participating artists bringing innovative approaches that blend traditional techniques with contemporary ideas.

Notable artists such as Manuele Klein, Detlef Weigand, and Lars-Ulrich Schnackenberg will be participating in the fair. Manuele Klein and Detlef Weigand will show works that incorporate KI-generated images and morbid found objects, respectively.

The fair will feature six renowned galleries and 13 individual artists from the surrounding region. Ren Rong is represented by Kunstraum Villa Friede from Bonn, while Astrid Lowack is represented by Samuelis Baumgarte from Bielefeld. Stephanie Pech, Maximilian Siegenbruk, and Susanne Zuehlke are represented by Monica Ruppert from Frankfurt. Special Events

The fair will have a framework program, including a musical journey through time with the Stardust Ensemble, a guided tour and artist talk, and musical accompaniment by Jean Baril with guitar chansons.

Organizers and Vision

Organizers Gabriela Hain and Marlis Sauer aim for the fair to be more personal and encourage social exchange. Hain emphasizes the importance of introducing young, unknown artists and choosing participants based on a certain "chemistry" that fits the concept. Martine Seibert-Raken, an artist, sees the fair as a good opportunity for creative exchange among artists and art lovers.
