Ingolstadt Prepares for Bustling Book Release

In the heart of Ingolstadt, preparations are underway for the release of a vibrant, large-format cardboard picture book titled "Ingolstadt Bustles." The book, scheduled for autumn 2025, aims to showcase the city in all its colorful glory, with a focus on recognizable landmarks, people, customs, and festivals. The book will cost 16.99 Euro and will be the first of its kind to tell the story of Ingolstadt through bustling scenes.

Children and adults alike are expected to be captivated by the busy, familiar streetscapes of their hometown. The bustling book format, independent of language, additionally encourages conversations and repeated viewings with family, friends, and loved ones.

On April 25th, a team consisting of the book's illustrator, publisher, and employees from the Department of Location Marketing and Tourism of the IFG will be scouting the city for potential motifs. These initial sketches will form the basis of the bustling book, with local illustrator Theresa Viehhauser at the helm. Known for her playful, child-appealing style, Viehhauser, a 29-year-old resident of Ingolstadt, is thrilled to capture her city in this unique format.

In an exclusive statement, Viehhauser expressed her enthusiasm: "I'm excited as both an illustrator and an Ingolstadt native to bring my city to life in a bustling book. Exploring new aspects of Ingolstadt myself, I hope that both young and old will recognize pieces of themselves in the pages and see Ingolstadt through fresh eyes."

Viehhauser will even feature some real residents of Ingolstadt in the book, offering portrait prizes for lucky winners.

Based in Stuttgart, Publisher Velle Verlag specializes in diverse and inclusive bustling books. Founded in 2021 by Deborah Schulze and Tabea Lerch, the publishing house has already successfully launched four city-themed bustling books in Ludwigsburg, Bietigheim, Nuremberg, and Würzburg. This year, they plan to release three more, with all books produced climate-neutrally in Germany's only cardboard book printing company, Sachsendruck.

To ensure representation of all members of the Ingolstadt community, the Velle Verlag collaborates with various local actors and incorporates their valuable input into the book's production. The public is also invited to contribute to the book's creation through the Instagram account @in.ingolstadt.wimmelts.

The bustling book can be purchased at the Tourist Information come autumn 2025. Visitors to Ingolstadt can also enjoy other cultural activities, such as the "Jungle Book Reimagined" event scheduled for May 25, 2025. Further information about book releases or diversity initiatives in Ingolstadt can be found through local event calendars or by contacting local bookstores directly.
