Touring the Thrilling World of Tourism:

Experience the bustling heartbeat of the tourism industry! Witness the behind-the-scenes action at a resort, from the tranquil spa to the bubbly bar, and even the busy kitchen. In the picturesque Burgenland, over 100 enthusiastic individuals recently immersed themselves in this exciting world at the 'Experience Tourism!' event, hosted by AVITA Resort in Bad Tatzmannsdorf.

Organized in collaboration with Burgenland Tourism, this day was specially tailored for students in grades 7 and 8, alongside eager participants from older age groups. The day was all about practical action - a hands-on approach to understanding the world of tourism.

"Feel it, don't just talk about it," might have been the unofficial motto for the day. Participants were encouraged to engage, learn, and put their skills to the test. The young guests rotated through various stations, gaining valuable insights into the diverse professional landscape of the resort.

With a focus on skill-building, the day started with sessions in the premium spa, where participants learned massage techniques and got the chance to practice them on each other. In the kitchen, the spotlight was on creativity - a free-cooking area challenged their dexterity and precision with vegetable carving. Service stations, like the hotel bar, provided an opportunity for young people to mix non-alcoholic cocktails and learn the art of barkeeping.

A walkthrough of the resort offered a glimpse into its inner workings, from the laundry to the reception area.

A Captivating Industry Proposition

The highlight of the day was a presentation by AVITA's Managing Director, Peter Prisching. Open and inviting, he shared his captivating career journey in the industry, offering the young participants a brutally honest glimpse into his experiences. Emphatically repeating his sentiment, "I'd pick tourism every time. It's dynamic, versatile, and incredibly rewarding."

Prisching also underscored the industry's role in fostering personal growth, fostering creativity, and promoting teamwork. He emphasized the potential role of young people in bringing fresh ideas to the industry. The participants' feedback echoed this sentiment. "Wow, the energy, enthusiasm, and eagerness everyone displayed - we're confident: This generation will bring a breath of fresh air to tourism!" said the AVITA team.

As a token of appreciation, all students received a voucher for a therme visit - an opportunity to experience the resort from a guest's perspective. Who knows, maybe one day they'll decide to join the tourism industry themselves!
