Vacancy dates adjusted in light of Pentecost observance
Heads-up! Waste Collection Delay on Pentecost Week
In the seven days post-Pentecost, the collection of all waste bins - residual waste, organic waste, paper, and recyclables - will see a one-day delay in Wiesbaden. This announcement comes from the waste management facilities of Wiesbaden themselves.
Waste Collection on Pentecost Holiday
So, if the collection was set for Pentecost Monday, it will now take place on Tuesday instead. Similarly, Tuesdays' waste will be collected on Wednesdays, and so on, as follows:
| Original Day | New Collection Day ||---------------|--------------------|| Monday | Tuesday || Tuesday | Wednesday || Wednesday | Thursday || Thursday | Friday || Friday | Saturday |
These adjustments have been accounted for in the ELW waste calendar at www.elw.de and within the ELW app.
Liturgy and Traditions
Pentecost marks the arrival of the Holy Spirit, as foretold by Jesus Christ. Considered a high feast, its celebration signifies the culmination of the Easter season. In Christian belief, it symbolizes baptism in the name of Jesus Christ following repentance. Receiving the Holy Spirit can occur through various means, including during the sermon or by the laying on of hands. As noted in the Gospel of Luke, the Holy Spirit, or divine power, descends upon believers as a force from above. This Holy Spirit united the followers and raised the Christian church out of the baptismal font. Henceforth, the disciples perceived themselves as the chosen people of God. The Christian community first appeared in public after Pentecost, with those initially timid believers, who had been quite shy, proving to be persuasive and missionary.

ELW – Collection Dates for Pentecost
With the delay in waste collection during Pentecost week, homeowners might need to consider temporary changes to their lifestyle, such as managing their waste production more efficiently.
On the other hand, the home-and-garden enthusiasts, who might be engaged in DIY projects during these days, should also follow the new waste collection schedule provided by ELW to ensure timely disposal of their waste materials.
