Vodafone Brings High-Speed Internet to 2,500 German Households in Rhein-Sieg Modernization Project
Vodafone Germany, a major communications provider, has completed a significant modernization project in the Rhein-Sieg district. This has brought high-speed internet to around 2,500 households in Sankt Augustin and Troisdorf. The project was part of Vodafone's ongoing efforts to expand and improve its network infrastructure across Germany.
Vodafone's commitment to network improvement is evident in its recent achievements. The company's 5G network now covers over 90% of the German population, while its machine network (Narrowband IoT) reaches over 97% of the country's surface. This extensive coverage is a testament to Vodafone's dedication to providing reliable connectivity across Germany.
The Rhein-Sieg modernization project involved laying new fiber optic cables and building additional fiber optic nodes. This has not only improved network stability and speed but also led to Vodafone's cable internet being awarded the test winner among national providers in the 2024 CHIP Fixed Network Test. The company received top marks for its price-performance ratio and highest average bandwidth.
Vodafone's Chief Technology Officer, Tanja Richter, attributes these improvements to an increased fiber optic share and reduced simultaneous users per network segment. The company's cable-fiber optic network now reaches two-thirds of all German households with gigabit speed. This is a significant milestone in Vodafone's mission to provide high-speed internet to as many households as possible.
The demand for a stable broadband network in the Rhein-Sieg district is high, with an annual data traffic growth rate of 12 percent. This underscores the importance of Vodafone's modernization project in the region. The company plans to build up to seven million new FTTH fiber optic connections in Germany in the coming years, further expanding its network infrastructure.
Vodafone Germany's modernization project in the Rhein-Sieg district has successfully brought high-speed internet to thousands of households. With its extensive 5G and machine network coverage, top-rated cable internet, and plans for further expansion, Vodafone continues to be a leading provider of communications services in Germany.
