Welds Build European-Style Tudor Home in Wayzata for Family Gatherings

Don and Cynthia Weld have constructed a new European-style Tudor home in Wayzata, Minnesota. The 5,000-square-foot house, designed by Hendel Homes, blends modern elegance with a welcoming atmosphere, perfect for the couple and their large family.

Cynthia Weld drew inspiration from her past, incorporating elements from her childhood home and other cherished places into the design. The result is a house that feels both modern and nostalgic, nestled perfectly in its wooded lot.

The interior is a harmonious blend of comfort and sophistication. Eskuche Design Group's Senior Designer Jeanna Landon used soft arches to create a long hallway, providing privacy while maintaining an open feel. The kitchen, designed to resemble a sitting room more than a workspace, features oak woods and off-center appliances. Reclaimed-wood beams, white oak floors, and linear lighting further enhance the modern look throughout the house.

As empty nesters, the Welds wanted a spacious home for their children and nine grandchildren to visit. The upper level, or 'the attic,' offers a lounge, reading area, prayer room, workspace, and can be converted into sleeping space for their grandchildren. Outdoor Excapes integrated natural materials like boulders and stone into the environment, seamlessly blending indoor and outdoor living.

The Welds' new home in Wayzata is not just a house; it's a sanctuary that combines their past, present, and future. With its elegant design, modern amenities, and warm atmosphere, it's a place where the couple can enjoy their retirement and welcome their growing family.
